From Police Officer to International Tour Leader

Hi, I’m Matt Grieves, and welcome to The Tour Leader’s Journal! After joining a Contiki tour in 2013, I decided to leave my policing career behind and travel the world as a tour leader. My tour career has seen me embark on adventures all over Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Over the years, I have learnt a lot about travelling the world. It can be a daunting task trying to plan your overseas adventures. Figuring out where to go, how to get there, where to stay, what to do, and what to eat. It can all get a bit much and even scare some people off travelling altogether.

This is why it is often best just to leave all this to the professionals and join an organised tour. This way, all your accommodation and transport will be sorted, as well as being provided with expert guidance along the way. All you need to do is show up, and the tour leader (like myself) will take care of the rest.

After 10 years of leading tours, I’ve decided to share my insights into the group tour industry and provide inspiration for the best places to travel. If you’d like to know more about my journey, check out my about page, otherwise check out my blogs for expert travel advice and inspiration.

My Mission

I believe that the most enriching journeys are those shared with others. My mission is to inspire travelers to embrace the power of group experiences, where strangers become friends and destinations become stories told together.
